Forecast: Cycle Syncing — Privacy Policy

Effective: 2026-07-04 · Developer: Marion Moranetz

Forecast: Cycle Syncing keeps everything on your device. There is no account, no cloud, no server, and no analytics. Your cycle data is encrypted at rest and excluded from device backups. Nothing you log is transmitted anywhere, and nothing on your lock screen names what the app really tracks.

What the app stores, and where

Three kinds of data, all created by you, all on your device:

Cycle data and temperatures live in an encrypted on-device file protected by iOS Data Protection (locked until you first unlock the device after a restart) and excluded from iCloud and computer backups, so they never ride along in a backup you didn't think about. Only non-sensitive flags (for example, "onboarding is done") use standard UserDefaults.

What the app never touches

Notifications and widgets

Notifications are scheduled locally on your device; no push server is involved. Their wording is deliberately weather-only, so nothing readable on your lock screen names periods, fertility, or ovulation. Home-screen widgets read a file-protected payload in a private container shared only between the app and its widgets, and use the same weather language. You can turn notifications off anytime in iOS Settings → Notifications → Forecast.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Forecast: Cycle Syncing is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone. If you have a concern, contact me at the address below.

Your rights

For users under GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, or similar: because no personal data is collected on any server I control, there is no controller-side data to access, port, or erase. Local data is governed by Apple's iOS protections and your control of your device.

Changes

Updates get a new "Effective" date here and a note in the next App Store release notes.
